Three ways to sell
Buyback counter
- Cash on the spot, least effort
- You need Japanese ID (residence card, My Number card, driver’s license…). A passport alone is not on the lists.
Apple Trade In
- Credit toward a new Apple product, or an Apple Gift Card
- Online or at an Apple Store. Adults only, with valid ID
Flea-market apps
- You set the price, but you handle photos, shipping and buyer questions yourself

BRING

- My Number card, driver’s license, residence card, special permanent resident certificate, or a certified copy of your residence record
- Not available to under-18s or high-school students
Janpara
- Driver’s license, residence card, My Number card, or a photo ID with your current address
- Register as a member first
PREP
Before you sell
- Back up and move your data to the new phone.
- Check Parts and Service History. If it says “Finish Repair”, Apple Trade In will not accept it.
- Unpair your Apple Watch and sign out of your Apple Account.
- Erase all content and settings. This also turns off Find My and Activation Lock. Erase the eSIM too.
- Remove the SIM card and screen protector.
PRICE
What lowers the price
- Locked or not erased. Phones that cannot be erased or still have Activation Lock are refused.
- Network restriction. ○ is fine; ▲ or – is reduced; × is refused.
- Missing accessories and battery. IOSYS lists about −5% for any missing accessory and about −20% for battery health under 80%.
- Cracked screen. Heavily reduced; a screen that shows nothing is refused at IOSYS.
FLEA
Selling on flea-market apps
- Check the listing rules. Mercari requires the phone to be erased with Activation Lock off, and network restriction ○ or –. Rakuma accepts ○ only.
- Write the IMEI in the description. Mercari asks for it and Rakuma requires it.
- Remove the SIM card.
- Show proof that it works. A screenshot of a function check builds trust with buyers.
