Will it work at home?
- Famicom ≠ NES. Famicom cartridges have 60 pins; NES cartridges have 72. They don't fit each other without an adapter.
- Super Famicom carts are a different shape from North American SNES carts.
- Nintendo 3DS is region-locked. A Japanese 3DS won't play games sold abroad.
- Switch game cards are not region-locked (except China). Switch 2 cards aren't either — but the cheaper "日本語・国内専用" Switch 2 console is Japanese-only and not for overseas use.
- The Japanese-only PS5 Digital Edition is for use in Japan only.
POWER
Voltage
Japan runs on 100 V. Older Japanese power adapters are built for 100 V only. In a 220–240 V country, plugging one straight in can destroy it. Use a step-down transformer or a local adapter with the same output. Anything labelled "100–240V" only needs a plug adapter.
